To summarize, the Legends continue on a record setting tear, GDE gets back in the groove, The Knights emerge as a team to be reckoned with, the entire American League is totally up for grabs and a great series by any one of the 4 teams will likely find them in the driver's seat. Only PVB hasn't found their stride yet and that will self-correct any week as the rust slowly flakes off. GDE had 3 tough games with the PVB elder squad, with Brent and Brett Fisher making their 1st showing this season. After crusing in the series opener21-12, PVB rebounded to make game 2 closer, trailing by only 2 heading into the top of the final frame. GDE used a 7 run 5th to claim the series and the game 23-14. GDE again won in game 3 in their last at bat 9-8 to complete the series sweep of PVB. The Gookies played with only 3 players as Andy was AWOL. Big Time Rick Lewis earned his nick name by crushing 7 HRs and driving in 23 runs in the sweep. Brent and Brett Fisher picked up where they left off last year, crushing 5 and 4 HRs respectively. The Redlegs and the U dualed in a battle of American League leaders with the Redlegs earning a 2-1 series victory. A wild 18-12 1st series game win established the tone for the evening with Brad Miller crushing 4 HRs and driving in 8 RBIs. Brent Hoover single handedly kept the U in the game by going yard 4 times to drive in RBIs. Shondrick turned in a pitching gem in game 2, accomplishing the very rare feat of blanking the Redlegs 8-0. In the deciding game of the series Brad Miller returned the favor, winning a pitchig dual 4-0 to claim the game and series win. Ron Anderson provided the only runs of the night on a 3 run shot to left field. In a non-league match up the Knights continued their improving ways by narrowly edging the Brothers Squared 2-1 for their 2nd consecutive series win . In the opener Brothers X2 turned a big 7 run 3rd inning into a 13-11 victory to jump ahead in the series. Corbin Hill picked up his 2nd win on the mound and brother Collin provided the offense by crushing 3 of his 5 series HRs. Game 2 was an offensive explosion for the Knights as they used 5 run 3rd and 4th innings to blow open a close game 12-4. Nathan Rinehart was the offensive hero as he delivered 9 RBIs with 3 HRs. The rubber match of the series was another classic as Brothers X2 jumped out to a 7-2 lead after 3 innings. With 2 runs in the final frame the Knights tied the game and sent it into extra innings where Dustin Weaver took control and delivered a game winning 3 run HR to seal the victory. On the night the Hill brothers delivered 6 (Corbin) and 5 (Collin) HRs and 13 and 9 RBIs respectively. Their female star, Ashley Flautt was missing and this certainly hurt Brothers X2. Nathan Rinehart had a huge series with 6 HRs and 15 RBIs. The Knights are now in 3rd place in the National League and just a game out of 2nd. The Legends squared off against PVB and continued their offensive tear. In game 1 the legends used a 21 run 4th inning to blow open a close game 25-5. Jerry Driggs led the Legends with 6 HRs and 11 RBIs while Ben got untracked crushing 5 HRs with 8 RBIs. Levi added 4 HRs in the effort. The 4th inning was again kind to the Legends in game 2 as they erased a 1 run deficit with an 11 run inning. Levi, Jerry and Ben all had 3 HRs for the game and Phill added 2 more. In game 3 the legends steadily built a solid lead before removing all doubt with a 16 run final inning. Levi and Ben smashed 4 HRs each with Ben racking up 12 RBIs. For the series Ben led the Legends with 12 HRS and 26 RBIs. Jerry added 12 HRs and 23 RBIs while Levi contributed 11 HRs and 19 RBIs and Phill 4 and 11. For PVB Gabe led all with 6 HRS and 12 RBIs and Dave added 5 HRs.
Week 4 is the final slow pitch week before the first fast pitch night of the year. This will be a conference night with National League leaders GDE and Legends squaring off in the key matchup and all other teams playing key league foes.
COWL Wiffler of the Week Return to Top Nathan Rinehart The call for WEEK 3 COWL Wiffler of the Week was a difficult choice. A host of players had very solid nights, like Big Time Eric Lewis of GDE with 7 HRs and 23 RBIs, Ben Cydrus of the Legends with 12 HRs and 23 RBIs, Levi Driggs of the Legends with 11 HRs and 19 RBIs, Brent Fisher of PVB with 5 HRS and 14 RBIs on his 1st night back and Corbin Hill with 6 HRs, 13 RBIs and a pitching win to his card. Ultimatley the biggest series of the week was the Knights versus Brothers Squared series, with the Knights trying to find their way in a new league and the Brothers Square leading the American League. Nathan Rinehart led the Knights to their 2nd consecutive series victory 2-1, by crushing 6 HRs and delivering 15 RBIs in some fairly low scoring games. For his stellar effort for the 2nd week in a row Nathan deservedly wins the COWL Week 3 Wiffler of the Week ! Ricky Henderson impression is first rate. Congrats to Nathan for his solid night at the plate and in the field.
