Conference leaders have emerged and staked their claims for top spots in each division.  Jostling for 2nd thru

4th place continues in both leagues, with teams hoping to avoid last place so as to not draw the league leaders

in the first round of the playoffs.

Gookie Dawkins Experience

The Gookie Dawkins Experience had another good night.  Although their run production was down sharply, they

demonstrated they can win with defense, defeating 2nd and 3rd place conference foes PVB and the U and only

scoring 20 runs on the night.  Gookie keeps pace with the Legends in their quest to have the best overall record,

remaining undefeated in their conference and just 1 game behind the Legends for most wins.  Blake Lansing and

Andy Russell added to their win totals on the year.

Pleasant Valley Boys

The Pleasant Valley Boys had another good night - despite only playing with 3 total and 2 adults.  PVB moved

squarely into 2nd place in the conference with wins over conference foes 3JT and the U.   Dave Fisher continues

his move to the top of the league leader board by hammering 8 HRs and driving in 16 RBIs.  Dave's son, Gabe Fisher

added 4 HRs and 6 RBIs. PVB will make up their last 1st half game vs the Paints after the All-Star festivities on Saturday.

The U

The U had a difficult night, suffering close defeats to GDE and PVB by 2 and 3 runs.  They stayed close to out

of conference foe W2W before finally losing.  The U continues to improve and will be a formidable foe during

the playoffs.  They are firmly ensconced in 3rd place in the National league, 2 1/2 games ahead of 3JT.

3 J’s and a T

3JT played 2 very good games but came up empty handed, losing to conference foe PVB 11-8 and non-conference

foes Legends and W2W.  Logan Swackhammer had another good night, beating 4 HRs and 11 RBIs.  Word on the

street is that 3JT's ace, Caleb Cydrus, brother of Wiffler of the Week Ben Cydrus, will be joining his team as his

work schedule now permits.   Caleb and Janae returning will make a huge difference for the beleagured 3JT.

Legends

The Legends returned to form after a 2 week slump, crushing 31 HRs in just 2 games as a team.  A razor's edge

13-12 victory over conference foe W2W was followed with a decisive victory over 3JT.  Ben Cydrus earns Wiffler

of the Week by hammering 7 HRs, 5 against W2W, and driving in 11 RBIs.  Levi Driggs had another solid night,

hammering 7 HRs including several monster shots.  Phil returned to form by hitting 3 HRs while Jerry had another

workman-like night in delivering 11 HRs and 14 RBIs.  The Legends are now 6 games in front of both conference

foes and 1 game ahead of GDE in the race for best overall record.

Wall-2-Wall

Wall 2 Wall had a good night, putting pressure on the Paints in the race for 2nd place in the American league.  After

narrowly losing to conference leading Legends in a come-from-behind thriller 13-12, W2W proceeded to soundly

defeat the U and 3JT.  Balance is the name of the game for W2W with Tyler, Tony, Jr. and Nate all hitting 2 HRs

and adding 5 RBIs while Eric led W2W with 4 HRs and 8 RBIs.

Paints

The Paints were on vacation and did not play.  They will make up 2 games against the U Friday,  July 9th at 8 PM,

and will make up 2 more games (GDE, 3JT) after the All-Star games on Saturday, July 13th.

                                             Ben "Ben-Jammin" Cydrus of the Legends

Ben Cydrus of the Legends earns Central Ohio Wiffleball League Wiffler of the Week.   Ben crushed 5 pivotal HRs

against conference 2nd place rival W2W while driving in 7 in the Legends thrilling 13-12 victory.  Ben pitched his 5th

victory of the year against no defeats against 3JT also.  Ben has been on the leader board in HRs and RBIs all year,

in spite of batting in the batting lineup behind 2 of the top 5 in the league in both categories.

Congratulations to Ben on a great season so far !
