Week 2 was one of surprises.  The pitching rotation choices are providing an extra level of strategy and excitement to the games.

Gookie Dawkins Experience

The Gookie Dawkins Experience had a great evening.  Andy Russell pitched them to a narrow victory over the previously undefeated

Legends and Andy added 4 key HRs and 7 RBIs in the effort .  GDE went on to post victories over the Paints and 3JT.  They solidified

their 1st place position in the National League and got winning pitching efforts from Dave Page and Blake Lansing.

Wall-2-Wall

Wall 2 Wall also rebounded in strong fashion after a difficult week 1.  With impressive wins over the Paints and a red hot GDE,

they moved into 2nd place in the American League.  Eric had a fantastic night at the plate, hammering 10 HRs and 15 RBIs, placing

him near league leaders in both categories.  Nate Sprouse also had a stellar night at the plate, contributing 7 HRs and 14 RBIs. 

Eric, Tony and JR posted pitching wins to aid W2W in a 3-1 record on the night.

Legends

The Legends suffered their first lost of the season to GDE, but rebounded with a close victory over PVB and impressive wins over the

Paints and W2W,   Once again, balance was the case for the Legends as every batter contributed multiple HRs and RBIs.  Jerry led the

Legends with 10 HRs and 17 RBIs, Ben Cydrus added 13 RBIs and 5 HRs, Phil King added a season-high 4 HRs as did Levi Driggs

and Casey Bowers got his first at bats of the season, contributing 3 HRs and 7 RBIs in 2 games.  Ben and Jerry also served up pitching

victories on the night (but no ice cream), as did Phil.

Pleasant Valley Boys

The Pleasant Valley Boys had a good night, going 2-1 defeating the Paints and 3JT.  They win the award for closest games as all their

games to date have been close, win or lose.   The Fisher boys and son had huge nights at the plate with Brett hammering 11 HRs and

15 RBIs, Brent close behind with 7 HRs and 20 RBIs and David right behind with 8 HRs and 10 RBIs.  Gabe Fisher added 4 HRs

and 5 RBIs and Talon Osborne added 4 HRs and 7 RBIs. 

Paints

The Paints had an off night, losing and uncharacteristic 4 games, slipping from 2nd place in the American League to 3rd, a game back of

W2W.   Joey Davis had a big night at the plate, teeing off for 10 HRs and 16 RBIs.  Derrick Webb also had a good night, hitting 7 HRs

to accompany his 15 RBIs.  Aaron added 4 HRs and 10 RBIs.  Obviously, the Paints scored enough runs but lost 2 games by a single run. 

They win the heartbreak award for most close losses in a night.

3 J’s and a T

3JT was severely undermanned, but fought valiantly none-the-less.  In two games Jim Driggs hit 2 HRs and Logan Swackhammer added

his first granny of the season.  We expect 3JT to be back on track as their premier players get back on the field.

The U

The U was unable to play on Friday and will be making up the 5 games missed in the coming weeks.

  COWL Wiffler of the Week                                Return to Top

There were 2 very strong candidates for the COWL WOW this week. 

Wiffler of the Week this week goes to Andy Russell.  He was a single man wrecking ball to the Legends undefeated season, holding

the Legends to 13 runs on their home diamond and booming 4 long HRs while driving in 8 of GDE’s 16 runs in the game.  He finished

the night with 8 Hrs and 18 RBIs.  Congratulations to Andy…and speaking strictly for the Legends, to quote my favorite Dwarves…”

Curses to the Dragon Andy..He killed our undefeated season and stole our gold !”

Eric Young made a strong case for the award having several monster games against the Paints and the GDE, pitching for his 2nd victory

on the year and hammering out 10 HRs and 15 RBIs, team highs for the year.  He also made several diving web-gems in their loss to

the Legends.  His extraordinary performance surged W2W into 2nd place in the American League and moved their record back into

positive territory.  Well done, Eric
